The Age of Controllerism

It used to be two turntables and a microphone. Then upcoming producers/djs would bring some of their production toys to tinker with on stage, such as the Akai MPC2000 or the SP1200…maybe even some of the original analog 808 machines or a Linn Drum Machine. Now there is a whole new generation of producers/djs, utilizing the laptop as the brain and the controller as the hands. All together its equalling what the older drum machines did but with a bigger twist…more effects, knobs, buttons, twist, and tweeking to do. Its called Controllerism people and its a whole scene of producers taking it to another level. One producer in particular is Moldover. He is one of the leading controllerist in the bay area and seems to be taking the scene by storm. I happen to be on a production panel with him and found out he does some pretty interesting stuff. You got to check it out!!
